The 31-year-old, who has spent his entire career in his native Italy, had been left out of Roberto Donadoni’s squad for a pre-season trip to Naples.
Munari began his career at Sassuolo, coming through the youth system at his hometown club before making 49 senior appearances during a two-year spell.
He signed for Giulianova (via Chievo in co-ownership deal) in 2003, where he would spend a single season, scoring three goals in 25 appearances before leaving for Serie B side Triestina.
Successful spells with Triestina and Hellas Verona led to a switch to Serie A with Palermo in 2006, however, Munari failed to break into the Sicilian side’s first-team and was subsequently loaned out to Serie B side Lecce in January 2007.
Lecce acquired 50% of the player’s rights from Palermo for €1 million in July 2007 and the midfielder remained at the Stadio Via del Mare for four more seasons, making a total of 143 appearances for the club, finding the net 16 times.
Munari moved to Fiorentina for a fee of €800,000 in 2011, signing a three-year contract, but made just 11 appearances before leaving for Serie B outfit Sampdoria in January 2012.
